Whether you have a set budget, or money is no option, you can have a successful party. The three important keys to party planning are: food, décor, and entertainment.
Theme often plays an important role in menu planning. For example, if your theme is a backyard BBQ, your entrees might include: pulled pork, kabobs, hamburgers, chicken, and/or hot dogs. Perfect sides for this include: corn on the cob, potato salad, coleslaw, pasta salad, chips, and/or watermelon. Plus, you can add a fun summer drink; mix a bottle of ginger ale, a large can of pineapple juice, and a packet of Hawaiian punch. You can finish off this menu with a delicious chocolate cake or do s’mores over a campfire!
Create some ambiance with paper lanterns or string lights. Use bottles, flowers, and/or candles for centerpieces.
Does your party have a theme? If so, think about what elements you want to include. Do you want props, or dinnerware to match? Check out Party City, Dollar Tree or Oriental Trading. Plus, with the world of Pinterest, you can find plenty of DIY projects!
Entertainment can be as simple as setting the mood with music. Consider what you want to include in the party. Do you want dancing, outdoor games, contests, face painting or a caricaturist? Do you have a projector? Maybe you can host a “drive-in.”
Throwing a party might sound costly and overwhelming. However, it doesn’t have to be. An outdoor party can make the décor and entertainment much easier. Plus, there’s less indoor mess! All you need is a simple menu plan, a few decorations, and a little music. Before you know it your outdoor space will become the perfect party spot.
