- 3 large apples, peeled and diced bite-size
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Prepared pie crust, store-bought or our recipe
- Vanilla ice cream
In a medium bow, stir together apples and lemon juice. In another bowl, mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg; pour over diced apples. Stir well to coat evenly.
Add apple mixture to a pre-buttered 8×8 baking dish. Cover dish with foil and bake until apples are tender and juices have thickened, about 45 mins.
Prepare pie crust. If desired, use apple shape cookie cutters to make garnish pieces. Lay pie sheet/pieces on a cookie sheet and bake pie according to instructions. Once cooled, crumble into bits for your topping and layers.
Assemble your sundaes as desired.
Optionally, you can garnish with roasted pecans and/or drizzled caramel, topped with whipped cream.
